IEI values in-kind construction projects as a way to give back to the community
IEI General Contractors’ focus on giving back to the community included several in-kind construction projects and financial contributions to worthy causes throughout northeast Wisconsin in 2021. We view these efforts as an integral part of who we are as much as the high-quality commercial additions and renovations we complete for businesses.
One of our higher-profile donated construction projects in 2021 was the Wisconsin Ledge American Viticultural Area (AVA) Monument in Way-Morr County Park in Greenleaf. The AVA is based on the unique geology of the Niagara Escarpment and encompasses nearly 2.5 million acres across 11 counties. IEI crews provided the masonry labor to install the ledgestone and steel portions of the monument.
Another of our favorite in-kind construction projects was the work we provided Unity Hospice for its dedication benches and pavers. Prior to this project, dedication benches purchased by families in honor of loved ones sat on asphalt pads around a walking path.
Honorary pavers also could be installed around the area, but Mother Nature took its toll over time. IEI crews replaced all the pads with concrete, including concrete pads to hold the pavers. The pads are now level and sit at a height appropriate for proper grass care.
Small construction projects assist non-profit efforts
IEI contributed labor and expertise for several small construction projects that benefited non-profit groups throughout our home area in Brown County. While not large in terms of construction projects, they are nonetheless important contributions to these organizations.
We helped the YMCA locate and remove a time capsule that was installed at the time its original downtown building, the Ferguson Family YMCA, was constructed in 1920. Our crew will install a new time capsule later in 2022. Additional in-kind projects include window replacement for Habitat for Humanity, and designing and building a monument for the Carpenters Local 1146 in Green Bay.
Outside of construction projects, we also make monetary donations to foundations throughout the region. In 2021, this included Hospital Sisters Health System (HSHS) St. Vincent and St. Mary’s Foundation in Green Bay, HSHS St. Clare Foundation in Oconto Falls, HSHS St. Nicholas Foundation in Sheboygan, and Bellin Health Foundation in Green Bay.
